LOL, you wish Jimmy would drown, that cracks me up; hard to see how poor Jimmy can inspire such hostility.

Row Jimmy to me is one of those songs where I don't feel very excited to hear the first few bars, but once they're into it, I'm into it. Maybe that's just me.

i guess my hostility IS a bit misdirected :)

my heartfelt apologies to Jimmy and his heavy plight. i guess i just dont need Jerry et al incessantly imploring the poor bugger to Row over and over and over again - i mean, yeeeesh...

dude, jimmy's rowing for the rest of eternity. if he drowns, there'll be another to replace him, and another, and another. if humans blow this planet up and start living in space, jimmy will be rowing in space. it must be true cuz jerry told me so during an immaculate slide solo just before he told me that my broken heart don't hurt as much as i thought.

you're either on the boat or off the boat

i'm on the boat, until it sinks, then i'm swimming for damn sure.

Hey D--I had to chime in to say that my wife has the same opinion about J and his rowing...of course, it never got much play time round here the past five yrs, but I did get the 73 boxed set, and tried to use that song to convince her Donna could harmonize.

She insisted "no, she cannot...that song proves it...and I hate how repetitive it is".

I really should've learned after 30 yrs, eh?

but does she not like the oftentimes beautiful guitar work during the instrumental portion?? her eyes dont roll into the back of her head in ecstatic bliss like mine do?? (damn! my wife's dont either)

and the more i think about it, repetitive is an understatement for the choral ending to some of the versions.
